George Gershwin
Listen to Rhapsody
in Blue.
" My people are Americans. My
time is today...."

George Gershwin was
born in 1898 and died at the young age of 39 in 1937. In spite of
his short life, he produced some of America's best known and best loved
music. His best known works include the orchestral works Rhapsody
in Blue, An
American in Paris, the opera Porgy
and Bess, and pop tunes I Got Rhythm, and
Swannee.
Gershwin's music is hard to catagorize because
he used elements of pop, jazz,
and classical styles. What is undeniable is that George Gershwin is
considered one of the greatest composers of the Twentieth
Century.
